What Is It ?
At its core, I believe that career coaching is:
- A productive process: A successful career won't be built overnight, but by making deliberate, intentional choices that create positive results.
- Helping someone identify and achieve their professional goals: Every person is unique, and has their own dreams of what success is. Everyone's dream is different!
- Working to improve clients' lives through positive, gainful employment: The "right" job helps grow our skills and lets our talents shine!
Career coaching is NOT:
- A promise to get you rich quick: THERE IS NO SHORTCUT TO SUCCESS, no matter what a person tells you, or a company tries to sell to you!
- Something that looks the same at all times: Career happiness comes from you being in the right place at the right time, not from being in a comfort zone without change.
- A way to make you comparable to your peers: As I like to say, "Comparison is the on-ramp to misery." DON'T FOCUS ON COMPARING; FOCUS ON GROWING!
Do I Need It?
How do I know if I need help from a Career Coach?
- You're not sure if you should stay at your current job or start looking.
- Your current job doesn't challenge you, and you're bored.
- You don't see any opportunities for growth, but you don't know what your next step is.
- Your path to career advancement isn't clear, or has too many obstacles.
- Helping your personal growth doesn't seem to be important to your manager.
- You have a long-standing personality problem with co-workers or management that you can't seem to resolve.
- You don't feel like the company's culture is a fit for you any longer.
- You're constantly working, and feel physically and/or mentally exhausted.
- Your job's demands for your time & attention don't fit your family responsibilities or lifestyle anymore.
- You can't put your finger on it, but something just doesn't feel right.
A professional Career Coach knows that any of the above signs are at least worth a chat, and could mean that the time has come for you to make changes that help get your career on the right track.
IF YOU ARE UNHAPPY, DON'T WAIT. LIFE IS TOO SHORT. THE RIGHT TIME IS NOW.

Frequently Asked Questions
Job placement services focus on quickly finding a client a job in a selected field. A career coach helps a client make sure they have what’s needed to find a job AND build a career into the future. They do this by listening to the client’s needs, creating an action plan, and helping the client navigate their journey along the way. Job placement fills a short-term need; career coaching helps support a lifetime of positive employment.
This can be a complex question, depending on the kind of coach you need, and your intended goals. I like to customize my pricing to my clients based on what their needs are. I create quotes for coaching services from what I learn about each client in our initial conversation, and their unique circumstances. I may even request another “learning” session if I identify a special need that requires more investigation. If you want to inquire about my hourly rate or anything else, feel free to ask!
Another complex question. Some people have a few sessions with their coach and are set for life. Others like maintaining a long-term “as needed” relationship with a coach over several years, across multiple job searches. My mission as your career coach is to match your needs as they present themselves. If you feel more time is necessary, I will work with you to offer that time and support to help you achieve your goals, whatever they may be.
Absolutely. I take the confidentiality and security of my clients’ private information seriously, and will protect the privacy of our time together and the information you provide as if it were my own.
